Enough about that, let’s get started.

In Act Three, Dr. Knight is sitting at the dinner table, working, and his wife is asking about his day. Typical stuff, right? Well, during their conversation, she recalls an incident when he used a racial slur to describe students at his school. Then, she did what so many loved ones do, she excused his behavior. Read below.

Cindy said, “Five years ago, three young thugs re-injured your back at school, so you said some things that you didn’t mean, but that woman had no right to record you. You were having a private conversation with me, but that doesn’t matter to people like them. All they want is to pull out their phones, and cause trouble for everyone. And do you remember how the children treated you the next year? Back talking you. Calling you a racist. It was disgraceful and the parents were just as bad.”

Well, as I soul searched with our Father, regarding our role in other people’s lives, I was led to read James 5: 19-20 NIV. It reads, “My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.” Please don’t get tripped up by the word “sinner” because believers are sinners- saved by grace- so this scripture applies to everyone. With that being said, using racial slurs to describe children is an example of someone wandering from the truth because Jesus wants us to love one another. Love is not easily angered and love does not dishonor others; however, when someone does something that upsets us, there are times when we will not respond in a way that is pleasing to the Father. (Okay, maybe it’s just me.) Nevertheless, I need my loved ones to speak truth into my life- in a loving way (of course). You need that too, by the way!

Dr. Knight needed that in the play; however, his wife supported his racist behavior but at what cost??? Do you have people who speak truth into your life? Truth aligns with God’s words, by the way.
