Abortion: Let’s Talk About It

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;
 I appointed you as a prophet to the nations”
(Jeremiah 1:5 ESV)

Legacy and Purpose

As I meditated on Jeremiah 1:5 ESV, it was a beautiful reminder that legacy and purpose is attached to our lives before we are placed in our mother’s wombs, so Christians – Democrats and Republicans alike- do not have to wonder when life begins. Life begins with God’s plans for us. Therefore, we can agree to stand in the gap and intercede on an unborn babies behalf. This isn’t party based. This is kingdom work! Ephesians 6:10-20 encourages us to put on the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” So, it should not surprise us when forces of evil come to kill, steal, and destroy legacy and purpose, so we must put on the whole armor of God.  We must do what the scripture tells us. “In all circumstances, take up the shield of faith, so we can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.” The evil one wants to divide us. He wants Democrats and Republicans to argue. He wants us to put our parties before the Kingdom of God. He wants us to be self righteous in our approach, so we won’t put on our breastplate of righteousness. Righteousness is a gift that God gave us. We can’t earn it. Jesus paid the ultimate price so we could be in right standing with God, so we have a duty to contend for life because legacy and purpose is attached to it. Think about it. Then, go to the Father and pray about it.

Is there ever an exception to the rule? What about women who are violated and become pregnant? We have to talk about it. It’s only fair.
