Happy New Year
Good-bye 2021 Hello 2022
So long, complaining! You can’t come with me this year.
I hope you had a stress-free Jesus led Christmas, and I pray you have a happy New Year. I don’t want to take up too much of your time this evening, but I have an announcement to make. Are you ready? Drum roll please!!!! I broke up with complaining today. It’s weighing me down more than my quarantine waistline, double chin, and flabby arms ever could, so I am shedding those pounds as I speak. For example, if I’m complaining about America but I’m not praying for America, I’m a part of the problem in America because I am an American citizen. I can’t detach myself from America because it has an ugly past. God didn’t detach himself from me.
John 3:16-17 states, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Therefore, if God did not send his son into the world to condemn it, who am I to condemn America? I know. It seems like history keeps repeating itself. It seems like the sins of the past keep rearing its ugly head and old wounds can’t heal. It seems like some people won’t acknowledge the sins of the past and it seems like some people want to blame everyone for the sins of the past, so we leave room for complaints to attach itself to us and division spreads like wildfire.
With that being said, I was reminded of one thing to day and that was this: we have all fallen short of the glory of God and it’s time for us to get off of our invisible high horses and start to pray for one another. It’s time to love the way God intended. Love is patient and love is kind. Love isn’t easily angered and it doesn’t keep record of wrong. We can’t continue to stand on our political beliefs. One party doesn’t have the monopoly on Christianity. It’s time for Christians to stand on the word of God. We can’t allow darkness to overtake us because Jesus is the light of the world.
Just think about it. Then, go to the Father and pray about it.
