The Christmas Edition
I LOVE December! It’s the one time of year when everything slows down, and we can truly enjoy being together with our family and closest friends. We decorate the house, bake cookies and cakes galore, and plan various activities. However, this year was a lot busier than years past. Our oldest daughter and I spent a lot of time working on our first soul searching romance novel, Joy to the Office! It was released on Christmas Eve. We dedicated this novel to my mother-in-law, Sherry Schroeder. God rest her soul! She loved Christmas, and she loved reading Christmas books. When she passed away, my father- in- law purchased a few Christmas books for me that Christmas in 2003 and I have been hooked ever since that day. Losing him in September of this year brought back a lot of memories. Dedicating this book to Sherry is our way of honoring him, too.
Soul Searching Romance Novels
Soul Searching romance novels will point our readers to Jesus in beautiful, creative ways. Our characters will reflect on their life choices and take soul searching journeys along the way. For us, this is ministry. Like Paul and Appollos, our prayer is to plant eternal seeds and water them when we have the opportunity.

A Soul Searching Synopsis
After working remotely for four years, Joy Bell must return to the corporate office full time. Their project is due by Christmas Eve, so their boss needs all hands on deck! This couldn’t have come at a worst time for some of their employees, so Joy is determined to bring a little joy into the office.
Returning to the office full time, Nicholas Rudolf had one objective! Complete the project so he could get home for Christmas. He did not want to connect with his coworkers, especially Joy Bell. With her baked goods, ugly Christmas sweaters, and store bought Christmas cheer, she represented everything that was wrong with Christmas. He couldn’t have someone like her in his life; he needed someone who understood that Jesus was the center of their joy, not cookies and milk.
Yet, from the moment he met her, there was a spark between them. For the life of him, he couldn’t understand why God would send him a woman who seems to love the spirit of Christmas more than his precious son, Jesus? Is it possible that a union between them could be a part of God’s plan this Christmas? After all, his ways are not our ways!
Soul Searching Delays
Life hit me hard after my father-in-law passed away on September 25, 2024. It took a physical and emotional toll on me. I could not complete everything that I planned for this year; however, this life is not my own. One day I will get that in my spirit and stop lamenting over things that were never meant to happen in the season that I chose. Sometimes we just have to REST in the Savior’s arms, and let Him heal our broken hearts.
